"Mary...no matter how frightening things may be, I know that you can pull through. I believe in you. Don't forget that."

- Penn Guindel

Penn Guindel is one of the characters in encountered in Mary's dream, where he resides behind the second door of the Dream Hall. He is the representation of Mary's beloved Uncle Gwendel from the real world.

Appearance[]

Penn Guindel is a lavender penguin. He is shown wearing a wine red suit with a matching top hat in the same color, as well as a lavender bow tie and a monocle on his left eye.

When you enter the room, you will see him sitting on a chair reading a purple book.

Personality & Plot []

Penn Guindel is a kind and well-spoken gentleman. He is very happy to see Mary again and allows her to look around and borrow as many books as she pleases.

When asking him for the red seed, Penn Guindel appears worried or saddened, asking if you really want it, but will give it to you nonetheless, after he has presented you with the challenge of finding a brown journal written by "Ana." If you answer correctly, Penn Guindel will look pleased and encouragingly tell Mary that he believe in her.

If the wrong answer is given, a petal will be taken from Mary's flower, though it's something he seems saddened to do. Unlike the other characters, Penn Guindel will always remain kind and supportive of Mary, regardless of wherever she gets the answer right or not. He will then bid you farewell and disappear, though a shadowy figure occasionally can be seen on his chair.

Penn Guindel will also talk about the world beyond the Dream Hall; he mentions that 'someone' will be waiting in a room next to Foxanne's, talks about the sea angel and gives Mary a task that requires she goes to the Nightmare Realm. Penn Guindel seems to be the only character who truly cares for Mary and to actually help her.
